Create design onlineAbout Silvery Sunproof Lily Turf
Silvery Sunproof lilyturf forms dense, arching clumps of narrow green leaves striped with silvery-white, followed by lavender-purple flower spikes in late summer. Its evergreen foliage brightens shaded borders and makes a tidy edging or low ground cover; this cultivar tolerates more sun than many other liriope selections. [North Carolina Extension Plant Toolbox](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/liriope-muscari-silvery-sunproof/).
## Growing conditions
Plant in acidic to neutral, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. It also grows in deep shade, though growth slows and leaves may stretch. Allow 15–18 inches for mature height and spread. Plants are listed for USDA zones 6a–9b. Water regularly during the first growing season; established plants need little supplemental water and tolerate drought. Deer and moderate salt tolerance are noted by North Carolina Extension.
## Seasonal interest
The evergreen, variegated foliage provides year-round structure. Purple flower spikes appear in late summer and are followed by blue-black berries. The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/103341/liriope-exiliflora-silvery-sunproof/details) also describes this selection under the synonym *Liriope exiliflora* 'Silvery Sunproof'.
## Maintenance
Keep the soil moist while the plant establishes. In late winter, cut back old foliage before new growth begins; divide clumps in spring if they become crowded.
