About Super Blue Lily Turf

Super Blue lilyturf is an evergreen, clump-forming perennial with dark green strap-shaped leaves and upright purple-blue flower spikes. Late-summer blooms continue into autumn and are followed by purple-black berries, giving this selection seasonal color above its compact foliage. [Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/299793/liriope-muscari-super-blue/details). ## Landscape use Plant it as an edging along paths, in woodland borders, or as a low ground cover. The RHS recommends full shade for this cultivar; it prefers moist, well-drained soil that is acidic or neutral. NC State Extension’s species profile notes that *Liriope muscari* can also grow in partial shade or sun, though exposure and watering affect performance. Shelter foliage from cold, drying winds in frost-prone sites. ## Seasonal interest The evergreen leaves maintain structure through the year. Purple-blue flower spikes rise in late summer and autumn, followed by dark berries. This selection is also suitable for borders and containers. ## Maintenance Keep the soil evenly moist while plants establish; established liriope tolerates periods of drought. In spring, cut old leaves down before fresh growth begins. Divide clumps in spring when needed, and watch young growth for slug damage.
