[Terra Nova’s exact plant page](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/lithodora-gold-n-sapphires/). ## Landscape use The low, trailing growth suits sunny banks, rock gardens, edging, or planting between stepping stones. Its blue flowers appear from April through June, while yellow-gold foliage supplies color between bloom periods. Terra Nova identifies the selection as LITGS and lists U.S. Plant Patent PP28629. The plant is drought tolerant and deer resistant, with low water needs after establishment. ## Growing conditions Provide full sun and sharp drainage. The [RHS profile for *Lithodora diffusa*](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/10353/lithodora-diffusa-picos/details) recommends acidic to neutral, well-drained soil; that is species-level guidance. Terra Nova advises against winter leaf cover or mulch for this evergreen groundcover. ## Maintenance Water during establishment, then reduce supplemental irrigation as roots settle in. Keep winter debris from burying the foliage, and remove damaged stems as needed to maintain a neat groundcover.
