About Golden Form Bentham's Fountain Palm

Golden Form is a yellow-green foliage selection of Bentham’s fountain palm, an upright, solitary fan palm that can reach about 60 feet. Its ornamental color varies with growing conditions, and the palm community uses “Golden Form” as a horticultural selection label. [Project Palm’s exact form profile](https://projectpalm.net/species/livistona-benthamii-golden-form). ## Landscape character The broad fan leaves, ringed trunk, and retained leaf bases create a distinctive tropical specimen. The Singapore National Parks Board describes the cultivar as a full-sun palm with yellow-green leaves, moderate water needs, and an eventual height of 18 meters. Allow generous room and keep the spiny petioles away from walkways. Plant in rich, well-drained soil that retains moisture; avoid dry, exposed sites. ## Hardiness and siting Published hardiness estimates differ: Project Palm gives climate zone 10a, while Fairview Nursery lists 8b for this selection. These are not a consistent range, so check local winter lows and site exposure before planting. The palm is best suited to warm climates or protected locations. ## Maintenance Water regularly and deeply, especially while establishing, and maintain even soil moisture without waterlogging. Use palm fertilizer during warm active growth if needed. Remove old fronds carefully, avoiding the sharp petiole teeth.
