Lo & Behold® ‘Lilac Chip’ is a compact butterfly bush with lavender flowers, green to gray-green foliage, and a rounded, spreading form. Proven Winners lists it at 18–24 inches tall and 24–30 inches wide, while the RHS gives a broader possible range of 0.5–1 metre (about 1.6–3.3 feet) in both height and spread. ## Flowers and foliage
The fragrant panicles are described as lavender or soft lilac, with flowering from midsummer into early autumn. Proven Winners calls the foliage green; the RHS describes it as grey-green. The plant blooms on new wood.
## Garden use
Its mounded, spreading habit works at the front of a sunny border, in a mixed planting, or in a patio container. NC State Extension reports that flowers attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. Leave room for the shrub to widen as it matures.
## Siting and soil
Choose full sun and well-drained soil. Proven Winners recommends average moisture and lists USDA zones 5–9. Water while establishing, then adjust to rainfall and drainage; avoid persistently wet soil.
## Maintenance
Deadheading is not needed for continued flowering. In colder regions, stems may die back over winter; wait for new leaves before pruning surviving top growth in late winter. Remove damaged stems and keep the plant’s low, spreading outline.
