About Berry Blue™ Honeyberry

Berry Blue™ honeyberry is an upright, vigorous honeysuckle cultivar grown for its large, sweet blue fruit. One Green World lists plants up to 8 feet tall, and Iowa State Extension notes that honeyberries need a second compatible cultivar with a similar bloom time for reliable fruit set. [One Green World Berry Blue profile](https://onegreenworld.com/product/berry-blue-honeyberry/) [Iowa State Extension](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/faq/what-are-honeyberries) ## Flowers and fruit Small yellowish-white flowers appear in early spring, followed by elongated berries that turn dark blue and ripen in late spring. The fruit is described as blueberry-like with currant or raspberry notes, and can be used fresh or in preserves, juice, or syrups. ## Site and pollination Choose full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil; in hotter regions, partial shade can help. Plant another compatible honeyberry nearby for cross-pollination, with similar bloom times for better overlap. Iowa State lists honeyberry as hardy in USDA zones 2–6. ## Maintenance Protect ripening fruit from birds with netting if needed.
