Honeybee™ Honeyberry Bush

Honey Bee is a vigorous, productive haskap selected to pollinate Borealis, Tundra and the Indigo series. It blooms in sync with these cultivars in controlled crosses and bears its own fruit, making it useful as a companion shrub in a home fruit planting. ## Pollination and fruit The University of Saskatchewan reports cylindrical berries that hold on the bush longer than many Russian varieties, though stems often remain attached at harvest. The fruit is tart and the research description recommends hand picking; processing for juice or jelly avoids the work of removing stems. Honey Bee showed high leaf-mildew resistance in the program’s trials, but that is not immunity. ## Placement Plant Honey Bee close to compatible cultivars while leaving enough room that its taller growth does not shade them. The breeder suggests placing it north of Borealis or far enough away to avoid crowding.
