Indigo Treat is a University of Saskatchewan haskap cultivar with sweet berries averaging about 1.41 grams. The university describes the Indigo selections as a related series and rates its shrub size as average.
## Fruit and Pollination
Haskaps need a second, different variety flowering at the same time for cross-pollination. The University of Saskatchewan chart rates Aurora and Honey Bee as excellent partners for the Indigo series; it rates the Indigo series as incompatible with itself. Berries are dark blue to purple and typically ripen early in the season.
## Siting
Plant in full sun for the best fruit production; part sun is possible but can reduce yield. Haskaps prefer well-drained loam or sandy loam, and can tolerate clay where drainage is good. The [University of Saskatchewan Haskap growing guide](https://gardening.usask.ca/gardening-advice/gardenline-nested-pages/food-plant-pages/fruit/haskap.php) covers planting and cultivar comparisons.
## Maintenance
Keep new shrubs moist, but not waterlogged, as they establish. Space plants so pollinators can move between compatible cultivars. The shallow roots benefit from mulch, kept clear of the stems; avoid competing grass and weeds near young shrubs.
