About Halliana Honeysuckle Vine

Halliana is a vigorous, twining evergreen honeysuckle with dark green leaves and fragrant flowers that open white and turn buff-yellow. It climbs walls and supports, reaches about 4–8 m tall with a 1–1.5 m spread, and bears glossy black ornamental berries that should not be eaten. [RHS Halliana profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/93277/lonicera-japonica-halliana/details) ## Growing Conditions Grow it in full sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained soil; it tolerates chalk, clay, loam, or sand. Give the twining stems a sturdy support and space to grow. ## Spread Management As a form of Japanese honeysuckle, Halliana can spread vigorously. NC State identifies Lonicera japonica as invasive in North Carolina and describes spread by runners, rhizomes, and seeds; check local guidance and keep the vine from escaping into natural areas. Remove or redirect runners when needed to keep the plant within its support and away from neighboring vegetation.
