About Cedar Lane Honeysuckle Vine

‘Cedar Lane’ is a twining trumpet honeysuckle with scarlet tubular flowers and red berries. It flowers over summer and autumn, and can rebloom on new growth, bringing a long display to a sturdy trellis, arbor, fence, or wire support. ## Flowers and Form The bright flowers have yellow throats, while the vine’s simple green leaves may remain semi-evergreen in milder climates. The stems climb by twining, so provide a structure they can wrap around rather than expecting them to cling to a flat wall. Hummingbirds visit trumpet honeysuckle flowers. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun or partial shade; flowering is generally strongest with ample light. It grows in chalk, clay, loam, or sandy soils when drainage is good, and tolerates moist but well-drained ground. Allow room for a mature height of about 8–13 feet and spread of 5–8 feet. The red berries add late-season interest; treat them as ornamental rather than food. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and extended dry spells. Prune after flowering to shape the vine or remove tangled, damaged stems. ‘Cedar Lane’ can flower again on new wood, so avoid cutting it back heavily before its flowering season.
