Magnifica is a late-flowering selection of native trumpet honeysuckle, grown for large red to orange-red tubular flowers on a climbing vine. It can cover a fence, arbor, or trellis while bringing a vertical layer of seasonal color to the garden. [UF/IFAS describes Magnifica and the species’ growing habits](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/FP354).
## Garden Use
Train the stems over a sturdy support and allow enough room for the vine to climb. The flowers are showy but unscented; the broader species is native to the eastern and southern United States. Leaves may remain through mild winters, while colder conditions can make the plant deciduous. [Trees and Shrubs Online notes the cultivar’s bright red flowers and the species’ variable foliage persistence](https://www.treesandshrubsonline.org/articles/lonicera/lonicera-sempervirens/).
## Growing Conditions
A sunny position supports better flowering; the species tolerates several soil textures, including clay, sand, and loam. UF/IFAS lists hardiness through USDA zone 10A and notes that dry sand is a poor fit. Water during establishment and extended dry spells.
## Maintenance
Guide new growth onto its support when needed. If foliage becomes concentrated high on the structure, selective heading back can encourage lower growth; avoid pruning away developing flower buds when late-season bloom is the priority.
