Dropmore Scarlet Honeysuckle Vine

‘Dropmore Scarlet’ is a vigorous, semi-evergreen twining honeysuckle with blue-green leaves and clusters of bright scarlet tubular flowers. Its long display runs from midsummer into late autumn, making it useful for covering a sturdy trellis, arbor, fence, or other garden support. ## Flowers and Form The narrow trumpet-shaped flowers appear in terminal clusters, with red-orange shades that can vary among selections. This fast-growing climber reaches about 8–13 feet tall and spreads roughly 1.6–3.3 feet. It can be trained vertically while keeping a relatively narrow footprint. Red berries follow the flowers and provide additional seasonal interest; do not treat them as edible. ## Growing Conditions Grow in full sun or partial shade. Moist, well-drained soil suits it; clay, loam, or soils rich in organic matter are appropriate. Give the twining stems a structure to wrap around and leave enough room for the vigorous growth. ## Maintenance Tie in young shoots and prune after flowering to control the outline or remove tangled and damaged growth.
