About Goldflame Honeysuckle Vine

Goldflame honeysuckle is a vigorous twining vine with fragrant tubular flowers that are deep pink outside and orange-yellow inside. It climbs a trellis, arbor, fence, or wall and may produce ornamental red berries after flowering; the berries are not for eating. [RHS plant profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/74914/lonicera-%C3%97-heckrottii-gold-flame-hort-1/details) [Morton Arboretum plant profile](https://mortonarb.org/plant-and-protect/trees-and-plants/goldflame-honeysuckle/) ## Flowers and foliage The flowers bloom in summer, and red berries may follow in autumn. The leaves are deciduous in colder conditions, though the vine can be semi-evergreen in mild climates. ## Site and support Grow in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained clay or loam. Provide a sturdy trellis, arbor, fence, or similar support. Mature size varies by conditions: RHS lists 4–8 m in height and 2.5–4 m in spread, while Morton Arboretum describes vines climbing 10–15 ft; leave room and use pruning to manage growth. ## Maintenance Prune after flowering because blooms form on old stems. Watch for aphids and leaf spots during the growing season.
