About Mandarin Honeysuckle Vine

Mandarin honeysuckle is a vigorous deciduous hybrid vine selected from a cross of *Lonicera tragophylla* and *L. × brownii* ‘Dropmore Scarlet’. It carries large tubular flowers with dark reddish-orange outer petals and paler yellow-orange interiors, while young leaves emerge coppery and mature to glossy green. Hummingbirds visit the flowers. ## Support and growth Give this woody vine a sturdy trellis, fence, or wall to climb. The patent describes a mature vine length of 6 m or more and potential seasonal growth of about 2 m, making it useful for colorful summer screening. ## Maintenance A UBC Botanical Garden forum note recommends winter pruning to control height and advises allowing a new planting to establish before pruning.
