Bird's-foot trefoil ‘Pleniflorus’ is a very low, mat-forming perennial with dense, clover-like green foliage and double yellow, pea-shaped flowers. At roughly 3–4 inches tall and about 12 inches wide, it can cover small sunny spaces, edge paths, or soften a rock garden. The [Red Butte Garden record](https://redbuttegarden.org/plants/species/1378/) identifies the Pleniflorus form and lists full sun, average water, and a compact 3-inch-by-12-inch size.
The [Little Prince nursery profile](https://littleprinceplants.com/our-plants/plant-solutions/foot-prince/lotus-corniculatus-pleniflorus-birds-foot-trefoil/) confirms the double yellow flowers, low trailing growth, and deer resistance. Its vigorous spread makes it useful as a living groundcover but a poor fit beside small, slow-growing plants that it could overrun. For larger installations or sites adjoining natural areas, check local guidance on bird's-foot trefoil before planting. The related species flowers from late spring into early autumn and provides nectar for bees and other pollinating insects, according to the [Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/99960/lotus-corniculatus/details/).
## Maintenance
Grow in full sun and well-drained soil; keep moisture moderate and water during extended dry periods. Allow space for runners, and trim or divide the mat if it spreads beyond its intended area.
