About Low Scape Snowfire Aronia

Low Scape Snowfire® is a deciduous black chokeberry selected for a dense, mounded form and a showy sequence of white spring bloom, dark berries, and bright fall foliage. Proven Winners identifies the cultivar as ‘SMNAMPEM’ and reports mature dimensions of 4–6 feet tall by 3–4 feet wide, with hardiness in USDA zones 3–9. ## Seasonal interest and use The generous spring flowers attract bees and butterflies, followed by dark blue-purple fruit and red autumn foliage. The shrub fits a mixed border, foundation planting, informal hedge, or native garden where its medium size can be accommodated. It tolerates a range of moisture and soil conditions, but good drainage and adequate room help it establish well. ## Siting Choose full sun or part sun. Proven Winners reports tolerance of both wet and dry soils and describes average water needs; newly planted shrubs still need regular watering until established. The breeder lists the plant as hardy through zone 3 and recommends planting it where the mature spread of about 3–4 feet can develop. ### Sources [Proven Winners cultivar profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/aronia/low-scape-snowfire-aronia-melanocarpa) · [New Blooms Nursery profile](https://www.newblooms.com/products/aronia-lowscape-snowfire) ## Maintenance Prune after flowering if shaping is needed because the plant blooms on old wood; pruning then reduces the season’s potential fruit set. Remove dead or damaged branches as needed and monitor suckers where a confined outline is important.
