About Chilean Myrtle

Luma apiculata, known as Chilean Myrtle, is a vigorous evergreen shrub or small tree prized for its multi-stemmed habit and spectacular exfoliating cinnamon-orange bark. Its small, glossy dark green leaves are aromatic when crushed, providing a dense backdrop for profuse, fragrant white flowers that bloom from mid-summer to autumn. These are followed by edible purple-black berries. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade and is ideal for specimen planting or hedging.
