About Luminary® Opalescence Tall Garden Phlox

Luminary® ‘Opalescence’ is a tall garden phlox with light pink flowers, darker pink eyes, and dark green foliage. Proven Winners lists it at 30–32 inches tall and 24–28 inches wide, with summer flowers, fragrance, and a stated USDA hardiness range of zones 3a–8b ([Proven Winners](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/phlox/luminary-opalescence-tall-garden-phlox-phlox-paniculata)). ## In the Garden Place this upright perennial in a border, cutting garden, or large container where its flower pattern and fragrance can be appreciated. The breeder recommends part sun to sun; provide fertile, consistently moist but well-drained soil and reasonable air movement around the foliage. The flowers support bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Its compact spread for a tall phlox makes it useful where a substantial summer display is wanted without a very broad clump. ## Maintenance Water when rainfall is limited, keeping the root area evenly moist rather than saturated. Remove spent flower heads for a tidier display, then cut stems back after the foliage has died down. Clear plant debris and keep the clump from becoming overcrowded to support healthy growth in the next season.
