Lucius ColorGrass® Luzula

ColorGrass® Lucius is an evergreen woodrush with upright to arching growth and flat, mid-green leaves edged in fine white hairs. Small white flowers rise in spiky clusters in late spring and summer. The spreading foliage brings soft texture to shaded borders, woodland plantings and damp garden areas. ## Growing Conditions PanAmerican Seed lists the plant as Luzula nivea, with a mature height of 6–12 inches and width of about 18 inches. Its profile recommends partial sun to sun and notes that it flourishes in damp, shady areas; the foliage is evergreen in suitable conditions. Space plants roughly 18–24 inches apart, as the listed spacing is broader than the plant’s stated width. ## Maintenance Water during dry periods to keep the root zone from drying completely, particularly in sunnier sites, while avoiding standing water. Remove damaged leaves as needed and leave healthy foliage to provide year-round texture.
