Angel’s Blush rose campion forms upright, branching stems above a mound of soft, silvery foliage. Its white flowers carry rose-pink eyes whose size and intensity vary with the weather, so the display can shift from pale pink to nearly white. The accepted name is Silene coronaria (Oculata Group) ‘Angel’s Blush’; Lychnis coronaria ‘Angel Blush’ is a documented synonym.
## Garden use
Use this short-lived perennial in sunny or lightly shaded cottage borders, informal beds, and containers, where its silver foliage contrasts with green-leaved neighbors. Plants usually self-seed, though seedlings may vary; remove spent stems if you want to limit spread. The flower stems can also be cut for arrangements.
## Growing conditions
Give it full sun or partial shade and well-drained soil. It grows in chalk, loam, or sand and tolerates acidic, neutral, or alkaline conditions. Sandy’s Plants lists USDA zones 3–9 and describes drought tolerance once established; supplemental moisture can keep foliage and flowering looking fresher. The Royal Horticultural Society describes a short-lived perennial, up to about 3 feet in flower, with a typical spread of roughly 4–20 inches. In exposed sites, stems may need support.
## Maintenance
Deadhead to prolong flowering or prevent unwanted self-seeding. It can also be propagated from seed or by dividing established clumps. Watch for slugs and aphids, especially on young growth.
