Create design onlineAbout Hoehne's Miniature Coconut Palm
Hoehne’s miniature coconut palm is a small-scale palm with arching, feather-shaped foliage for a sheltered garden or a roomy container. Kew’s Plants of the World Online treats Lytocaryum hoehnei as a synonym of Syagrus hoehnei and records the species from Brazil’s eastern coastal states in a wet tropical biome.
## Growing Conditions
Use it as a specimen where its foliage can be seen at close range, or grow it in a container that can be moved to protection in cold weather. A bright position with filtered midday sun and a freely draining, consistently lightly moist growing medium is a practical starting point for this tropical palm. The [Kew accepted-name profile](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:246945-2) gives its current botanical placement; Kew’s [synonym record](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:147996-2) connects the former Lytocaryum name.
## Maintenance
Protect the crown from frost and avoid leaving the roots in standing water. Water when the surface of the growing medium begins to dry, then allow excess water to drain. Remove only fully spent or damaged fronds, leaving green foliage in place.
