About Royal Star Magnolia Tree

Royal Star is a rounded, deciduous star magnolia with pale pink buds that open into fragrant white flowers in early spring, before or with the leaves. Its narrow tepals form showy blooms, and the cultivar grows as a bushy shrub or small tree. Plant it in full sun or partial shade in a sheltered location where its early flowers can be seen. The mature dimensions vary by source and site; allow room for a broad, rounded crown. ## Maintenance Grow in well-drained soil; moist, humus-rich soil is suitable, and the cultivar tolerates clay, loam, and sand. Protect flower buds from late frost and shelter the plant from cold winds. Pruning is usually minimal; if needed, prune magnolias in midsummer while in full leaf.
