About Adams Flowering Crabapple

Adams is a rounded, dense flowering crabapple with deep carmine-red buds that open into single pink flowers. Its green leaves have a reddish cast, and glossy dark-red fruit adds late-season color and can attract birds. ## Size and siting The Utah State University Varga Arboretum lists this selection at about 20 feet tall and wide, with medium growth and suitability for zones 4–7. It adapts to many soil types and is noted for strong disease resistance. Give it full sun and enough room for its mature canopy; fallen fruit can be messy around patios and walks. The rounded form works well as a specimen or small shade tree. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and extended dry spells. Prune in the dormant season to remove damaged or crossing branches and preserve the natural crown.
