Create design onlineAbout April Showers™ Weeping Crabapple
April Showers™ is a small ornamental crabapple with a naturally weeping outline, pale buds that open nearly white, and bright red fruit. Its modest height and narrow spread make it suitable for a front yard, a small lawn, or a mixed landscape bed.
## Flowers and form
This selection is sold as Malus ‘Uebo’ PP 15,559; April Showers is its trade name. It grows about 8–10 feet tall and 4–6 feet wide, with arching branches and dark green leaves. Pink buds open to light pink or white flowers in spring. Small red fruits follow and can persist into fall, while the bare branching structure adds winter interest. The introducing brand is identified as Plants Nouveau on the [selection profile](https://shop.milaegers.com/product/crabapple-april-showers%C2%99-weeping-malus/).
## Placement
Give the tree full sun and enough room for its branches to cascade. Its compact size works near a patio or in a smaller garden, where the flower display and pendulous outline can be seen clearly. The profile lists USDA Zones 4–8 and describes the selection as highly resistant to apple scab; disease performance can still vary with local conditions.
## Maintenance
Water regularly while the tree establishes, then water during prolonged dry spells. Prune selectively to remove damaged or crossing branches and preserve the natural weeping shape. Avoid heavy pruning that would remove the flowering wood or spoil the cascading outline.
