About Urban Apples® Blushing Delight™ Apple Tree

UEB 3727-4 is a compact, weak-growing columnar apple selection recorded by the Czech Institute of Experimental Botany as Moonlight; Blushing Delight is its U.S. market name. The institute’s entry describes Vf resistance to apple scab and yellow-green fruit, sometimes with a red-orange cheek, while Johnson’s Nursery reports firm, juicy fruit and a narrow mature form. See the [institute’s Moonlight variety record](https://ueb.cas.cz/cs/publikace/?id=15211) and [Johnson’s Blushing Delight profile](https://kb.jniplants.com/blushing-delight-urban-columnar-apple-malus-domestica-ueb-3727). ## Fruit and Siting Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. This selection bears apples on short spurs; flowers are white in spring. A different apple cultivar or a compatible crabapple is needed for cross-pollination and fruit set. Its narrow, columnar habit suits a small garden or a position against a wall. Johnson’s profile gives a mature height of about 10 feet and a spread of about 2 feet. ## Maintenance Keep the young tree watered while it establishes. As the canopy matures, remove crowded or excessive spurs so the branches receive light and the crop does not become overloaded. Thin developing apples to roughly 6 inches apart in early summer to encourage better fruit size.
