Yellow Transparent Apple Tree

Yellow Transparent is an old summer apple also known as White Transparent, Glass Apple, or Russian Transparent. In Utah's Wasatch Front, it blooms early and ripens from late July to early August; the pale yellow fruit has a sweet flavor and is useful for sauce, but does not keep well. ## Fruit and season Harvest dates shift with climate and elevation. Montana State University lists Yellow Transparent among early-harvest apples and records the White Transparent and Glass Apple synonyms. Utah State University lists it for Zones 3–8 in its regional recommendations and notes that it is susceptible to fire blight. Use these local references as guidance rather than a universal calendar. ## Growing apples Apple trees are deciduous members of the rose family. They grow in full sun to partial shade and tolerate a range of soils. Many cultivars set more reliably with a nearby compatible variety that flowers at the same time.
