About Pink Princess™ Flowering Crabapple

Pink Princess™ is the ornamental crabapple selection Parrsi, introduced by J. Frank Schmidt & Son Nursery in 1987. It is valued for purple young foliage that matures toward bronze-green, rose-pink spring flowers, and small red fruit that can persist into winter. Chicago Botanic Garden describes the dwarf, spreading form and seasonal fruit display. ## Form and seasonal interest Use this compact tree as a specimen or accent where its spring flowers and changing foliage can be seen. A mature height of 6–8 feet and spread of 10–15 feet are compatible with descriptions of a small, spreading crabapple. This is an ornamental selection, distinct from edible apples that share the Pink Princess name. ## Site Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Flowering and fruit set vary with climate and pollination conditions. Rake fallen fruit as needed and monitor for common crabapple diseases.
