Create design onlineAbout Profusion Crabapple Tree
Profusion is an ornamental crabapple with bronze-purple young foliage that matures green, deep rose-pink spring flowers, and small dark-purple fruit. Trees and Shrubs Online treats it as Malus × moerlandsii ‘Profusion’ and distinguishes it from the separate cultivar Directeur Moerlands, also called Profusion Improved; the Royal Horticultural Society describes a broad mature-size range.
## Form and seasonal interest
The tree has an upright, spreading habit and can serve as a flowering specimen or small shade tree. Published mature-size accounts vary: the Morton Arboretum lists about 20 feet tall and wide, while the RHS gives a broader range reaching 8–12 metres in height. A shorter local estimate can be useful for planning, though mature dimensions vary with growing conditions. Flowers, colored foliage, and persistent fruit extend interest into fall and winter.
## Site
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. ## Maintenance
Prune selectively to maintain the spreading crown and remove damaged branches. Rake fruit and leaves when needed, and monitor for common crabapple diseases.
