Madinia® Elegant Velvet Red Mandevilla

Madinia® Elegant Velvet Red is a compact, mounding Mandevilla with vivid red flowers. Syngenta lists this color at 14–18 inches tall and 12–16 inches wide, for full sun, and as a heat-loving, pollinator-friendly plant. Its flowering time runs from mid-spring through summer, with continuous color through summer in warm weather. The product page lists USDA zone 11a; the Madinia culture guide gives a broader 10–11 range. [Syngenta Madinia® Elegant Velvet Red](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70051012). Use this tropical plant in a sunny patio container, hanging basket, or mixed planter where its rounded growth and red flowers can be enjoyed. Provide warmth and protect it from chilly conditions; the grower guide notes that Madinia plants are chilling-sensitive. The compact garden measurements are for the finished plant, while the longer culture instructions describe propagation and production. Keep the display in a bright, warm site for vigorous growth and extended flowering. ## Maintenance Pinch young shoots to encourage branching when fuller growth is desired. Trim lightly as needed to maintain the mound, and move or protect containers before cold weather.
