Marojejya insignis is a solitary palm from eastern Madagascar, where it grows in wet tropical forest. Its substantial trunk and long crown leaves suit warm, humid collections more than temperate outdoor landscapes.
## Form and placement
The species develops a broad crown; botanical descriptions report that its leaves vary from nearly entire to divided. Give it ample room and a sheltered position where the foliage can be appreciated. Kew recognizes M. insignis as an accepted species native to eastern Madagascar and associated with wet tropical biome. A specialist palm reference describes a rainforest habitat and recommends warmth, light shade, and moist but well-drained soil. See [Kew’s Plants of the World Online profile](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/668122-1) and [Palmpedia’s species account](https://palmpedia.net/wiki/Marojejya_insignis).
## Growing conditions
Provide warmth, humidity, filtered light, and a free-draining medium that retains moisture. Its tropical origin is not a basis for assigning a temperate outdoor hardiness range.
## Maintenance
Protect it from cold exposure, dry air, and strong winds that can damage the large leaves. Water when the surface begins to dry, keeping the root zone evenly moist rather than waterlogged; remove only dead foliage.
