About Column Stock Pacific Blue Matthiola

Column Stock Pacific Blue is an upright stock selected for its blue-toned, scented flower spikes. It flowers from late spring into summer and is grown as a single-stemmed florist crop for long, showy stems. ## Characteristics PanAmerican Seed lists a mature height of 24–30 inches and an upright habit. Its single-stemmed florist types carry dense spikes of large, closely spaced double blooms; doubleness is not selectable in this seed line. The grower lists approximately 20–22 weeks from direct sowing to finish for field production. ## Growing Grow in sun and schedule production for cool conditions, when optimum stem length is achieved. PanAmerican Seed warns that high heat can stunt plants or prevent flower spikes from developing. Its listed blooming season is late spring, summer, and late summer. See the [PanAmerican Seed Column Stock Pacific Blue profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/074600341009725/matthiola-column-stock-pacific-blue/) for product-specific growing information. ## Maintenance Harvest stems as the flower spikes develop and remove spent material after cutting. Use the grower’s guidance for field crop timing and density; that production density is not a landscape spacing recommendation.
