Hot Cakes Pink Stock

Hot Cakes Pink is a pink-flowered Matthiola incana in PanAmerican Seed’s Hot Cakes bedding-stock series. The breeder’s 2018/19 catalogue lists the series at 10–16 inches tall and 6–8 inches wide, with a four-week plug crop and five to seven weeks from transplant to finish. ## Flowers and form The Hot Cakes series is described as compact, well-branched, and fragrant, with bright blooms suited to landscape beds. Pink is a named color selection in the series, kept distinct from Hot Cakes Hot Rose and the Formula Mixture. The series’ plugs are selectable for double flowers. ## Growing Grow in sun and allow room for a low, branching mound. The size range is a series-level listing rather than a precise mature point, so the plant’s recorded measurements remain ranges. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and extended dry periods. Remove faded stems as needed to keep the planting neat, and leave enough space for the branches to fill without crowding neighboring plants.
