Garden Freckles™ is a compact Mecardonia with a mounded, trailing habit and many small, bright yellow flowers. Danziger lists it at 4–6 inches tall and 10–12 inches wide, for groundcover, landscape beds, and hanging baskets.
## Form and use
The low canopy provides color near the front of a bed or along a container edge, where its trailing stems can soften the rim. The flowers are single and small, produced abundantly on a medium-vigor plant. Danziger describes the series as early flowering and suited to pot cover and sunny landscape use.
## Growing conditions
Danziger markets Garden Freckles as a heat-tolerant, slightly drought-tolerant annual. Its general Mecardonia growing guide recommends full sun, well-drained soil, and moderate fertility; it also describes the crop as suitable for groundcover, hanging baskets, and mixed containers. The exact variety page does not give a USDA hardiness range, so use the plant as seasonal color in climates where it will not overwinter reliably.
## Maintenance
Water containers and newly planted beds regularly while roots establish. Once established, allow the surface to dry slightly between waterings, while avoiding prolonged dryness for best flowering. Trim trailing stems lightly if they extend beyond their space or become uneven; no routine deadheading schedule is specified.
