About Fuzzball Siberian Cypress

Fuzzball™ Siberian cypress is the trade name for the named *Microbiota decussata* cultivar ‘Condavis’. The patented selection has a low, creeping form and raised leaf scales that give its green foliage a soft, fuzzy appearance; winter foliage may take on a gray-orange cast. ([Plant patent PP20012](https://patents.justia.com/patent/PP20012); [Cornell Woody Plants Database](https://woodyplants.cals.cornell.edu/plant/155)) ## Form and Use The patent describes plants about 12 inches tall and 24 inches wide, with horizontal branches. Use the evergreen conifer as a specimen or in groups for a spreading groundcover. It is distinct from other *Microbiota* selections such as ‘Celtic Pride’; their dimensions and cultivar traits should not be substituted for ‘Condavis’. ## Growing Conditions The species profile lists full sun to part shade, with best performance in semi-shade, and consistently moist, well-drained soil. It tolerates occasional dry periods but is very intolerant of poor drainage. The ‘Condavis’ patent lists USDA zones 3–8. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and prolonged dry spells, and keep drainage open. Allow room for the horizontal branches to spread; little shaping is needed for its naturally low, prostrate habit.
