Create design onlineAbout Cosmopolitan Maiden Grass
Cosmopolitan is a large, deciduous ornamental grass with arching green leaves edged in white and pale green midribs. It forms feathery flowerheads in late autumn and can mature to about 4.9–8.2 feet tall and 3.3–4.9 feet wide.
## Placement
Grow in full sun in moist but well-drained soil. The cultivar profile lists chalk, clay, loam, or sand and acid, alkaline, or neutral soil. Its tall arching foliage suits architectural plantings and flower borders. The [Royal Horticultural Society’s Cosmopolitan profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/104206/miscanthus-sinensis-cosmopolitan/details) gives the mature size and growing conditions.
## Seasonal interest
The deciduous foliage carries green leaves with white margins and pale green midribs. Compact feathery flowerheads appear in late autumn.
## Maintenance
In spring, remove dead foliage and old flowered stems. Propagation by division can be done in spring, though establishment may be slow. Protect the planting from excessive winter wet.
