About MYSTAL™ 'Little Miss' Maiden Grass

Little Miss is a compact, mound-forming maiden grass with green foliage that can redden in late spring and deepen to burgundy by fall. Established foliage is about 2 ft tall and 3 ft wide; flower stalks can raise its flowering height to about 3.3 ft. Silky plumes appear from July through October. Use it in borders or containers where its colorful foliage and soft grass texture can stand out. The plant patent documents USDA Zone 6 hardiness, while an exact-plant product listing gives zones 5a–9b; local winter conditions affect performance. [Plant patent PP28,849](https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/aa/92/4b/45dd239e9486b8/USPP28849.pdf) [Exact-plant product profile](https://www.siteone.com/en/84722b-miscanthus-sinensis-mystal-little-miss-maidengrass/p/575387). The patent describes full sun, porous well-drained soil, and moderate water. This ornamental grass brings changing foliage color and airy plumes to small gardens and planted containers. ## Maintenance Leave the foliage standing for winter structure, then cut it back near the base in early to mid-spring before new shoots emerge. [RHS ornamental-grass guidance](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/types/grasses/ornamental/cutting-back). Keep soil well drained and provide moderate moisture, especially while plants establish.
