‘Miss Violet’ is a compact hybrid butterfly bush with dark violet-purple, fragrant flower panicles and a dense, branching shrub form. It reaches about 4–5 feet in height and spread, with flowers from summer into fall in a sunny garden.
## Flowers and form
The foliage is deciduous, and the shrub is suited to borders, pollinator gardens and containers. The breeder describes the plant as a semi-dwarf selection with saturated purple color; North Carolina State Extension reports a semi-upright habit and reduced seed formation. [Spring Meadow Nursery](https://springmeadownursery.com/plantfinder/miss-violet-05840) lists the exact cultivar, PP 28,448 / CBR 5950, its zone range and size. [North Carolina State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/buddleja-miss-violet/common-name/miss-violet-butterfly-bush/) gives flower, foliage, fragrance and siting details.
## Siting
Grow in full sun and well-drained soil; moderate moisture is suitable, with established plants able to tolerate dry periods. NC State Extension lists USDA zones 5a–9b and notes that stems may die back in colder areas. Flowers attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
## Maintenance
Miss Violet blooms on new wood. North Carolina State Extension recommends spring pruning to maintain shape in warmer climates; remove damaged growth after winter in colder gardens. For containers, provide extra water during hot weather and protect the root zone from drying.
