Create design onlineAbout Fireball Bee Balm
Monarda ‘Fireball’ is a compact bee balm with red-purple flower heads above dark green, aromatic foliage. It blooms from midsummer into early fall and suits sunny borders, containers, and pollinator plantings.
## Garden use
Its relatively short habit makes it useful near the front or middle of a perennial border, in a mass planting, or in a large container. Published mature-size descriptions vary: Future Plants gives about 24 inches in both height and spread, while other profiles describe 23–27 inches tall and 18–23 inches wide.
## Growing conditions
Grow it in sun and ordinary garden soil; average to moist conditions are listed as suitable. Hardiness sources differ slightly: Future Plants lists zones 4–8, while Perennials.com identifies USDA zones 4–9. Its aromatic foliage and flowers are also noted by the breeder and patent description.
## Maintenance
Water during prolonged dry weather and provide reasonable air movement around the foliage. Remove faded flower heads for a tidier display, and divide established clumps when they become crowded.
