About Marshall's Delight Bee Balm

Marshall's Delight is a named selection of scarlet bee balm (Monarda didyma) with bright pink flowers and aromatic foliage. It brings summer color and pollinator activity to mixed borders and naturalistic gardens. ## Garden character The North Carolina Extension Gardener Plant Toolbox lists Marshall's Delight among named selections of M. didyma, a North American perennial with fragrant leaves and nectar-rich flowers. Bee balm works well where bees and other flower visitors can use the open flower heads; plant it in a group for a fuller display. ## Growing Choose full sun or light afternoon shade and fertile soil that stays evenly moist but drains freely. The species also grows in ordinary garden soil. Allow room for a leafy clump and good air movement, especially in humid weather. ## Maintenance Water during dry spells, particularly while plants establish. Remove spent flowering stems to tidy the planting, and divide crowded clumps when vigor declines. Watch for powdery mildew and avoid overhead watering late in the day. [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/monarda-didyma/common-name/bee-balm/) lists this selection within the species profile; its care guidance applies to the broader bee balm group.
