About Raspberry Wine Bee Balm

‘Raspberry Wine’ is an upright, spreading bee balm with raspberry-red flower heads and aromatic foliage. It flowers in July and August, grows in full sun to partial shade, and is hardy in USDA zones 4–9. White Flower Farm introduced this selection in 1992; its profile lists a mature height of 30–42 inches and spread of 2–3 feet. Moisture-retentive soil that drains well helps support steady growth; leave space around the clump for air circulation. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the summer flowers, while the leaves have a minty scent when brushed. ## Maintenance Remove faded flower heads to tidy the plant and encourage further flowering. Divide spreading clumps every few years or when they become crowded. Keep the soil evenly moist during dry spells, and provide good airflow to help limit powdery mildew.
