About Neatball Boxwood

Neatball® is an evergreen Buxus microphylla selected for a naturally tidy, compact form and glossy dark-green leaves that retain color through the seasons. Proven Winners lists a mature height and spread of 2–3 feet and describes its habit as upright. [Proven Winners](https://c2.provenwinners.com/plants/buxus/neatball-boxwood-buxus-microphylla) ## Landscape Use Its small scale suits edging, containers, low hedges, and the front of a mixed border. The breeder lists it for sun, partial shade, or full shade and rates it for USDA zones 5–9. It is grown primarily for foliage rather than flowers. ## Siting and Soil Choose a site with moist, well-drained soil; the breeder cautions that this boxwood performs poorly in acidic or compacted ground. Water during establishment and extended dry periods, especially in containers. ## Maintenance Proven Winners describes pruning as seldom necessary, though light summer trimming can maintain a desired outline. Feed in spring according to the product label and keep mulch away from the stems.
