About Dropmore Catmint

Dropmore catmint is a hardy, spreading perennial with aromatic foliage and spikes of blue to purple flowers. Sources describe a low, horizontal habit and a long flowering season, with timing varying by climate and the reference used. ## Garden use Plant in full sun and well-drained soil; established catmint tolerates dry intervals but performs best when it receives water during prolonged drought. Use Dropmore along borders, in broad drifts, or to soften the front of a mixed planting. The Chicago Botanic Garden lists purple flowers in July and August and records butterfly visits and deer resistance. University of Illinois Extension describes ‘Dropmore’ as a blue-flowered selection and gives the broader species a spring-to-summer bloom period. The [Chicago Botanic Garden profile](https://www.chicagobotanic.org/plant-information/plant-finder/nepeta-dropmore-dropmore-catmint) and [Illinois Extension profile](https://web.extension.illinois.edu/hortanswers/PlantDetail.cfm?PlantID=736&PlantTypeID=2) document these sources and their differences. ## Maintenance After the main flush, cut stems back by about half to refresh the plant and encourage a later display. Remove dead foliage in spring and maintain drainage to reduce disease problems.
