A wonderful evergreen, grass-like succulent, Nolina microcarpa (commonly known as Beargrass) blooms in early summer with tall spikes clustered at the ends with thousands of tiny white flowers. Deep rooted and very xeric, Beargrass makes an excellent ornamental grass substitute for especially harsh, hot planting sites. Very long lived, plants will eventually form multi-headed specimens on short woody trunks. (High Country Gardens)
