Green Gable™ Tupelo is Nyssa sylvatica ‘NSUHH’ (PP 22,951), an upright, pyramidal-to-broadly pyramidal cultivar with a strong central leader. J. Frank Schmidt lists a mature height of about 40 feet, a spread of 25 feet, and USDA zone 5; its glossy dark green summer foliage develops orange-red to red fall color.
## Garden Use
The defined leader and gable-shaped canopy make this cultivar useful where a dependable upright shade tree is wanted. Its foliage is described as resistant to leaf spot, and the JFS page notes that the selection is seedless. The scientific name and NSUHH identity are retained alongside the Green Gable™ trade name.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in a sunny site with adequate room for the mature crown. North Carolina Extension describes Nyssa sylvatica as preferring moist, acidic soil while tolerating a range of moisture conditions. The JFS listing supplies a minimum reference of USDA zone 5, with no upper limit specified on that page.
## Maintenance
Water while the root system establishes and keep the planting area free of competing turf. See the [JFS Green Gable™ Tupelo profile](https://jfschmidt.com/all-trees/trees/green-gable-tupelo/) and [North Carolina Extension black gum profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/nyssa-sylvatica/common-name/black-gum/) for the named cultivar and species growing information.
