About Try Basil SimplyHerbs™

SimplyHerbs™ Try Basil is a named basil offering from PanAmerican Seed, with an upright habit and a size suited to a kitchen garden or container. The breeder lists it as Ocimum basilicum, with a 24–30 inch height, 12–16 inch width, summer flowering and sun exposure. [Its product page](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/009106748029747/simplyherbs-try-basil/) also identifies it as part of the SimplyHerbs range and notes availability as a Precision™ Multi-Pellet product. ## Garden use The compact footprint makes this selection practical for a patio pot, raised bed or dedicated herb planting. Place it where leaves are convenient to gather for cooking. The breeder also lists hydroponic production as suitable, so it can fit a controlled growing system when light and root-zone conditions are appropriate. ## Growing Basil grows best in warm conditions. North Carolina Extension recommends full sun and moist, well-drained soil for sweet basil, and advises planting outdoors after frost danger has passed. PanAmerican Seed lists sun exposure for Try Basil and gives a mature height of 24–30 inches and width of 12–16 inches. Allow air circulation around the upright plant and use a container with drainage. ## Maintenance Pick leaves as needed and pinch long stem tips to encourage branching. Remove flower buds when the goal is continued leafy growth. Water consistently while the plant is actively growing, keeping the soil moist but not saturated. See [North Carolina Extension’s basil guidance](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/ocimum-basilicum/) for general species care.
