Create design onlineAbout Siskiyou Evening Primrose
Siskiyou evening primrose is a low, spreading selection with vivid pink flowers. [Darwin Perennials](https://www.darwinperennials.com/Products/VarietySelect.aspx?phid=044806384005119) lists it at 6–8 inches tall and 12–15 inches wide, with a spreading habit and summer bloom. The [Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/25663/oenothera-berlandieri-siskiyou/details) describes its pink flowers as fragrant and notes that the plant spreads into a mat.
## Form and flowers
Plant it where its creeping growth can extend along the ground or soften the edge of a sunny border. Fragrant pink blooms bring color through summer and attract butterflies. Leave room around the plant so its mature spread does not crowd neighboring plants or paths.
## Where to grow
Darwin Perennials recommends full sun and medium water, and lists this selection for USDA zones 4a–8b. Provide well-drained soil; the RHS profile also recommends a well-drained position. The RHS hardiness rating uses a different system and is not converted here to a USDA zone.
## Maintenance
Allow the plant to spread, trimming it only as needed to keep paths or neighboring plants clear. Check soil moisture during establishment and water according to local conditions. The RHS describes flowering from spring through autumn; local timing may vary with climate.
