About Sundrops Evening Primrose

Sundrops is a day-flowering evening primrose with narrow, bright green leaves and large yellow flowers. The RHS lists Oenothera fruticosa ‘Sundrops’ and also records sundrops as a common name for narrow-leaved sundrops. [RHS plant profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/43240/oenothera-fruticosa-sundrops/details) ## Form and siting The RHS describes a deciduous, clump-forming perennial for full sun. It lists chalk, loam, or sandy soils and recommends well-drained conditions; the plant can also grow in moist but well-drained soil. Its daytime yellow flowers make an attractive fit for borders, prairie-style planting, gravel gardens, or containers. ## Maintenance The RHS says no pruning is required. Division in early spring is one propagation option. Avoid rich, wet, heavy soil, where root rot may be a problem.
