Sunset Boulevard is a bushy, deciduous evening primrose with narrow mid-green leaves that may bronze in spring and autumn. Its cup-shaped flowers open during the day, beginning yellow, turning orange, and fading to red; flowering runs from early summer into early autumn. The RHS lists the selection as Oenothera versicolor ‘Sunset Boulevard’. [RHS plant profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/111474/oenothera-versicolor-sunset-boulevard/details)
## Form and siting
Use it in a sunny border, patio container, or informal garden. The RHS recommends poor to moderately fertile, well-drained soil and lists chalk, loam, and sand as suitable soil types. Its color-changing flowers add a warm progression through the summer display.
## Maintenance
The RHS profile says pruning is not required. Good drainage is recommended, and the site may be exposed or sheltered.
