Create design onlineAbout Frantoio Olive Tree
Frantoio is an Italian olive cultivar valued for its olives and flavorful oil. Its silvery foliage and evergreen form give it ornamental interest, while the tree can also provide fruit for brining and pressing.
## Growing Conditions
One Green World recommends a warm, protected site with half-day to full sun and well-drained soil. Its Frantoio profile lists USDA zones 8–11 and describes a mature size of about 20 feet tall by 10 feet wide. Keep the root zone watered during establishment; the nursery notes that young trees grow quickly with deep watering.
## Fruit and Pollination
Frantoio flowers in May and ripens in October in the nursery profile. It is described as self-fertile, although a compatible olive flowering nearby can improve crop size. Use it as a fruiting tree or as a silvery-leaved specimen in a warm garden.

## Maintenance
Water deeply while the tree establishes and during extended dry periods. Plant in soil that drains freely, and allow room for the mature canopy when choosing a location.
