About Koroneiki Greek Olive Tree

Koroneiki is a named Greek olive variety prized for its small fruit and high-quality oil. RHS describes it as a compact, vigorous and productive evergreen with silvery-green leaves, spring white flowers and very small fruit that ripens from green to dark purple-black. It is self-fertile and drought-tolerant, and suits containers or dense planting ([Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/531249/olea-europaea-koroneiki-f/details)). ## Form and fruit This cultivar has glossy silvery-green foliage and a compact tree form. Its fruit is small and oil-rich; Koroneiki is an important Greek oil variety. A certified Greek nursery notes that it handles dry and poor soils but is sensitive to hard frost; it recommends the I-38 clone for super-high-density hedgerows ([Greek Olive Tree Nursery](https://www.olivetrees.gr/en/varieties/koroneiki)). ## Site and care Choose a sheltered, sunny position with well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing, then reduce irrigation once the tree is rooted; avoid waterlogged ground. RHS lists chalk, clay, loam and sand among suitable soil types. ## Maintenance Allow room for the eventual canopy or prune to maintain a compact container or dense-planting form. Harvest the small fruits green or after they darken, according to their intended use.
